ABOUT
An unapologetically queer, electric celebration of East and Southeast Asian excellence.
Expect live DJ sets, jaw-dropping performances, and a party that’ll leave you hungry for more.
After their explosive debut in March 2023, TASTE is BACK at The Yard—bigger, bolder, and even more delicious! Curated by the one and only ShayShay, this lineup of fresh, fierce, flavourful talent will have you dancing, laughing, and sweating all night.
Andy (aka DoyBoy) is a DJ and performer who brings the sunshine. Expect groovy sets you’d hear at a summer pool party: funky house, electronica and disco, laced with healthy splashes of pop. There’s also lots of references to Asian artists, particularly from his roots in The Philippines.
Bri Leung is an interdisciplinary artist working across performance, writing, film, sculpture, dramaturgy and facilitation hoping to educate audiences as a practice of reclamation. She interrogates the discomforting truths and conflicts in diasporic and gendered histories through the exploration of art history, popular culture and interpersonal relationships. She has performed and exhibited at Barbican Centre, Pleasance Theatre, Hoxton Hall, Somerset House and Greatorex Street.
Duane Nasis is a Filipino-British multidisciplinary movement artist working across cabaret and theatre to film, television and performance art. His practice includes a range of performance vocabularies from lucha libre wrestling to contemporary dance, from clowning to burlesque & striptease.
He will be presenting a duet from an ongoing larger body of work, featuring fellow British-Filipino performance artist Max Percy - an award winning, multi-disciplinary Theatre Artist, Producer, and Co-Artistic Director of Papergang Theatre.
ShayShay is a non-binary Japanese/Irish writer, director, and drag artist, working across theatre, queer cabaret, film and television. They are co-founder of queer Pan-Asian collective The Bitten Peach.
TASTE - design and programme curated by Princess Xixi as part of Chinese Arts Now Festival 2023.
